UCI Track World Championships 2001
The 91st UCI Track World Championships took place from September 26th to 30th, 2001 in the Antwerp “ Sportpaleis ”. There were twelve disciplines on the program.
The final run ended spectacularly in the Keirin: Due to a maneuver by the Australian Jobie Dajka , the drivers Jens Fiedler , Pavel Buráň and Florian Rousseau fell. While Ryan Bayley and Laurent Gané crossed the finish line unhindered, Fiedler followed them on foot with his bike under his arm and thus secured the bronze medal. Rousseau had to be hospitalized with a broken pelvis.
