Łukasz Kwiatkowski (born May 29, 1982 in Grudziądz ; † November 25, 2018 in Katowice ) was a Polish track cyclist .

Athletic career

Łukasz Kwiatkowski was one of the strongest Polish track cyclists in the short-term disciplines. In 2000 he became vice junior world champion in sprint , 2002 junior European champion in sprint and 2005 in team sprint , with Kamil Kuczyński and Damian Zieliński . He has been on the podium many times at European championships for youngsters and the elite and has won multiple Polish sprints, team sprints and keirin championships . In total, he won 55 medals at Polish championships.

In 2001 , Kwiatkowski finished sixth with Zielinski and Grzegorz Krejner and at the UCI Track World Championships in 2006 with Tomasz Schmidt and Zieliński, and at the UCI Track World Championships in Pruszków in 2009 , Kwiatkowski with Kuczynski and Maciej Bielecki was fifth in the team sprint.

Kwiatkowski started twice at the Olympic Games: in 2004 in Athens he was seventh in the Keirin, in 2008 13th in the team sprint and 17th in the sprint. In 2010 he ended his cycling career.

Łukasz Kwiatkowski died of leukemia in 2018 at the age of 36 .
