Benedykt Kocot (born April 11, 1954 in Chrzastowice ) is a former Polish track cyclist and world champion.

Athletic career

Benedykt Kocot was a specialist in the short-term disciplines on the track in the 1970s. He was Polish sprint champion three times . Twice - in 1975 and 1976 - he was world champion in tandem races , together with Janusz Kotliński . In 1975, the duo was subsequently disqualified because they had not attended the doping control.

Kocot started three times at the Olympic Games. 1972 in Munich in sprint and tandem races, where he won bronze with Andrzej Bek , in 1976 and 1980 in sprint, but without placing himself in the front. In 1975 he won the overall ranking in the first Grand Prix of the socialist countries in the sprint, which consisted of the Grand Prix of the GDR , Poland and the former ČSSR .

Professional

Kocot trained in landscaping and horticulture. He then studied and became a horticultural engineer. Later he worked as a coach in cycling.
