Eyk Pokorny (born November 22, 1969 in Berlin ) is a former German track cyclist and today's cycling trainer.
Cycling career
Pokorny started cycling in 1980 in the BSG Rotation Berlin.
Eyk Pokorny was a member of the national track team of the Association of German Cyclists from 1990 to 2001 . In the course of his career he was twice world champion (1987 as a junior in sprint ), eight times German champion, five times world cup winner, three times vice world champion and three times European champion in sprint, tandem sprint and team sprint (with Jens Fiedler and Sören Lausberg ).
Pokorny's greatest success was winning the title in tandem at the UCI Track World Championships in 1991 in Stuttgart with Emanuel Raasch . In 1988 he won the Polish Grand Prix for track sprinters.
Coaching career
Since November 2005, Eyk Pokorny has worked alongside other activities as a state trainer for the cycling sprint at the Olympic base in Cottbus / Frankfurt O. a. Keirin World Champion Maximilian Levy . In November 2013 he successfully completed his studies as a qualified trainer at the Cologne Trainer Academy of the German Olympic Sports Confederation in Cologne. On 14 December 2013 he was in Potsdam as Coach of the Year of Brandenburg awarded. Up to this point in time, the athletes he supervised had won 26 international medals.
