Robert Kanter (born June 18, 1992 in Cottbus ) is a former German track cyclist .

Athletic career

In the 2010 competition year, Kanter won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Montichiari in a team sprint with Philip Hindes and Stefan Bötticher . At the European Junior Track Championships in Saint Petersburg , he also won bronze in the 1000-meter time trial . For these successes Robert Kanter was honored on June 24, 2011 with the entry in the honor chart of the city of Cottbus .

In the run-up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Kanter and Alexander Reinelt were constant training partners of the two drivers Miriam Welte and Kristina Vogel , who later won the gold medal in the team sprint.

At the UEC European Track Championships (U23) 2014, Robert Kanter won the bronze medal in the team sprint together with Maximilian Dörnbach and Richard Assmus . In 2015 he became German champion in the team sprint together with Eric Engler , Robert Förstemann and Tobias Wächter .

After the German Track Cycling Championships in Cottbus in 2016 , where he again won the team sprint title with Eric Engler and Robert Förstemann, Kanter ended his sporting career.

After the sport

Kanter learned the profession of insurance salesman . On May 26, 2019, he ran for the FDP in the local elections in Brandenburg .

Honors

2011 Kanter was honored with the inclusion in the honor chronicle of the city of Cottbus.
