The 130th German Track Cycling Championships took place from August 24th to 28th, 2016 in the Cottbuser Radstadion . The host was the RK final spurt 09 Cottbus . The German railway championships have been held in Cottbus five times since 1993, most recently in 2014 .
On the five days of the championships, 43 decisions were made among the elite, juniors and youth. A total of around 300 athletes took part.
During the event, several track records were set at high temperatures, including the men's over 1000 meters by Joachim Eilers with 1: 01.837 minutes. The track record over 4000 meters, which Domenic Weinstein had held, was broken twice, first in the qualification of the single pursuit by Roger Kluge and in the final by the new German champion Marco Mathis , who completed the distance in 4: 31.544 minutes. The junior track four of the regional organization Brandenburg ran 4: 23.187 minutes a new track record in qualifying and took the final the NRW -Vierer one.
The outstanding athlete among the juniors was Carl Hinze , who won three titles, in the sprint, in the keirin and in the team sprint. Junior Pauline Grabosch, on the other hand, won all four short-term competitions for junior women and also won the women's team sprint title together with Kristina Vogel. Outstanding participant in the juniors in the endurance area was Franziska Brauße with three titles.

During the championships, Trixi Worrack , Roger Kluge and Henning Bommel were accepted as honorary members of the Cottbus RK final sprint . Pauline Grabosch thanked her team sprint partner Kristina Vogel for her achievements and camaraderie with a speech and presented her with a life-size portrait with the inscription "The gold bird flies and everyone congratulates".
