Marcel Franz (born February 20, 1996 in Oranienburg ) is a German cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2013 Marcel Franz became German junior champion in the team pursuit together with Jasper Frahm , Robert Kessler and Leon Rohde , in the junior points race he was runner-up. In the following year he won two national championship titles, in the points race and in the team pursuit, with Frahm, Max Kanter and Eric Schlott . In two junior road races - the Sint-Martinusprijs Kontich and the Cup of Grudziadz Town President, Lech Gergowski Memorial - he and his team each won a stage in the team time trial .

In 2015 Franz won the silver medal in scratch (U23) at the UEC European Track Championships for Juniors / U23 2015 in Athens . In 2019 he was third (behind Peter Bäuerlein ) in the Derny European Championship , and the following year he was German champion in this discipline.
