Peter Bäuerlein (born December 22, 1960 in Nuremberg ) is a German cyclist . Peter Bäuerlein has been a pacemaker in standing races and derny races since 1980 .

Athletic career

After winning the 2011/2012 Dutch Standing Championship together with Matthé Pronk on January 24, 2012 in Alkmaar up to the British Cycling Derny Championship 2012, where he was denied the right to start due to a change in the sports regulations of the British Cycling Federation, Bäuerlein held four at the same time Title in the three nations of Germany , England and the Netherlands . In total, he has won three European championships and 16 national titles, including twelve German championships. With seven consecutive German standing championships from 2011 to 2017, he is the sole record holder in this category. Together with Stefan Schäfer , he was German standing champion four times in a row from 2014 to 2017. No team has managed that before. He is considered the most successful pacemaker of the past decade and started at a total of 29 UEC European championships for stayer or derny races. No other athlete can show more active participation in UEC European championships. Since Christian Dippel left active competition, he has been described as the world's most successful active pacemaker.

At the UCI Track World Championships 2020 , Bäuerlein will be used as a pacemaker in the Keirin competitions.

Honors

On June 22, 2017, Bäuerlein was awarded the Golden Needle of the Bavarian Cycling Association for special achievements in Bavarian cycling.
