Reinier Honig (born October 28, 1983 in Heemskerk ) is a Dutch track and road cyclist.
Career
Reinier Honig became Dutch junior road racing champion in 2000 and defended his title the following year. He also won a stage at the Heuvelland Tweedaagse as well as a stage and the overall ranking of the Münsterland Tour of the Juniors.
In 2002, Honig started with the Bert Story-Piels cycling team . In his second year there he won the Grand Prix Claude Criquielion and a stage of the Tour de Gironde . In 2004 he was successful at the Classic 2000 Borculo . From 2006 he drove for the Dutch Continental Team Fondas-P3Transfer . From 2005 to 2008 he was national champion of stayers four times in a row .
In 2017, Honig was the Dutch stand-up champion for the fifth time, in the Sportpaleis Alkmaar behind Jos Pronk . The two athletes started together at the European Railway Championships in Berlin ; Since the Dutch cycling association KNWU did not support his participation financially, this was only possible with a crowdfunding campaign . Together with his pacemaker Jos Pronk, he won the silver medal. In 2018 and 2019, Honig and Pronk once again won the national title together. In 2019, Honig became European champion of the stayers behind Pronk.
