René Kos (born October 17, 1955 in Langedijk ) is a former Dutch track cyclist and permanent world champion.
Athletic career
In 1980 René Kos was second at the World Staying Championships in Besançon and second at the Dutch Staying Championships; However, a few weeks later he had to give back his World Cup medal for doping . The following year, 1981 , he won the world championship title behind Bruno Walrave in Brno and was also the Dutch stay-up champion; he won this national title three times in the following years. At the Standing World Championships in 1983 , Kos again took second place. He also started in 28 six-day races, his best placing was a third place in 1984 in Buenos Aires with the Belgian Willy De Bosscher .
Trainer and sports director
In 2002 and 2003 René Kos was the coach of the Dutch junior road drivers. He is also active as a race organizer and pacemaker . Afterwards Kos worked for the cycling team "Koga-CreditForce-Ubbink Track Cycling Team" as the sporting director , in which his two sons Patrick and Christian were also active.
In 2009 he was supposed to look after the Iranian rail team in preparation for the 2010 Asian Games , but this obligation did not materialize due to the uncertain security situation.
