Louis Darragon

Louis Darragon (born February 6, 1883 in Vichy , † April 28, 1918 in Paris ) was a French cyclist .

Louis Darragon first learned the trade of car maker before finally turning to cycling as a professional in 1901. From 1901 to 1904 he raced as a pilot (today a sprinter ) under the aegis of the champion Edmond Jacquelin , from then on as a stayer .

In 1906 and 1907 he was world champion of the stayers and also several French champions in this discipline. In 1918 Darragon had a fatal accident during a race in the Vélodrome d'Hiver in Paris .

In his hometown of Vichy, the "Stade Louis Darragon" is named after him, where rugby games are mainly played.
