Bjorn Emmerling
Björn Emmerling (born November 16, 1975 in Würzburg ) is a German hockey player who switched from Harvestehuder THC to the 1st Hanauer THC in 2008 .
Career
The defender made his international debut in 1996 in the jersey of the German national team . Between 1996 and 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games three times. In 2002 and 2006 he became world champion with the German team.
After the 2006 World Cup, he announced his retirement from the national team in September 2006. He played a total of 256 international matches and scored 58 goals. In 2007 he was voted “Sportsman of the Year” in Mönchengladbach.
He was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his sporting success .
