The first indoor hockey - World Cup men's and women was from February 5 to February 9, 2003 in the Arena Leipzig in Leipzig discharged. There were twelve national teams for both men and women, initially in two groups and then in placement games. A total of 76 international matches were completed.
Germany was able to secure its first world championship title for both women and men. This was also expected in advance, as Germany was internationally dominant in indoor hockey.
The French Maelle Loyot and the German Steffen Erlewein were chosen as the best goalkeeper . The Fair Play Trophy went to the women from Mexico and the men from New Zealand .
venue
The venue for the games was the Arena Leipzig , with its main hall, which has a capacity for around 8,000 spectators. Furthermore, there was also play in an adjoining hall, which had space for around 300 spectators. For the World Cup, the main and side halls were equipped with a comparatively soft and (with regard to television broadcasts) high-contrast flooring.
