The 14th Field Hockey - World Cup of the men was from 28 November to 16 December 2018 Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar in the eastern Indian state of Odisha discharged. The official name of the tournament was Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup 2018 . For the first time, sixteen national teams competed against each other, first in four groups and then in the knockout system . A total of 36 tournament games were played.
Belgium prevailed in the final against the Netherlands 3-2 after a penalty shootout and became world champions for the first time. Defending champions Australia narrowly failed in the semifinals to the Netherlands.

The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar has a capacity of 16,000 spectators.
qualification
Due to the increased number of participants, the qualification criteria changed compared to previous World Championships. In addition to hosts India , the five reigning continental champions and ten qualifiers from the FIH Hockey World League 2017 semifinals in London and Johannesburg qualified for the World Cup.

- China was able to qualify for the first time.
- France qualified for the first time since 1990.
- Belgium reached a semi-finals at a World Cup for the first time.
- For the seventh time, the Netherlands was in a field hockey final (record).
- For the 11th time in a row, Australia finished in the top four.
- For the third time in a row England lost in the small final.
- Spain, which took part in all 14 tournaments, achieved the worst result with 13th place.
