The 12th Women's Field Hockey World Championship was held from August 29 to September 11, 2010 in Rosario , Argentina . The official name of the tournament was BDO FIH World Cup Women . Twelve national teams competed against each other, first in two groups and then in placement games. A total of 42 international matches were completed.

The five continental champions were eligible to participate.
