The New Zealand women's national hockey team represents New Zealand at international hockey tournaments. She played her first international game on August 4, 1935 in Melbourne against Australia . Both New Zealand national teams are nicknamed "Black Sticks".

New Zealand currently ranks fourth in the world - and second in the Oceania rankings.

In the 1970s, New Zealand did not take part in world championships .
