Champions Challenge
The Champions Challenge is an international hockey tournament that has been held every two years since 2001. There is a tournament for both women and men. The purpose of the Champions Challenge is to enable more world-class hockey competitions.
Eligible to participate in this tournament are the nations that are in positions seven to twelve in the world rankings of the Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH). Decisive for this is the position in the world rankings after the last major hockey tournament ( Olympic Games or Hockey World Championships ) before the Champions Challenge. In addition, the host nation and the sixth place (last) in the previous Champions Trophy are qualified. The Champions Challenge can be described as the Champions Trophy for B nations. The winner of the Champions Challenge may participate in the Champions Trophy in the following year.
