European Women's Field Hockey Championship 2009
The 2009 European Field Hockey Championship for women is the ninth edition of the European Field Hockey Championship for women. It took place from August 22 to 29, 2009 in Amstelveen in the Netherlands .
The venue was the Wagener Stadium , which had already been the venue for the Men's World Cup in 1973 and the Men's European Championship in 1983 and four Champions Trophies . The winners were the Netherlands, who defeated the German national team in the final with 3-2 goals. The Dutch women have secured their seventh European title in nine championships so far.

Final round
Relegation games
The third and fourth of both groups form a relegation group. The last two have to relegate to the Nations Trophy, from which Belgium and Italy will be promoted for the 2011 European Championship . The games of the third against the fourth are taken over from the preliminary group.
