The 2013 men's European field hockey championship was the 14th edition of the men 's European field hockey championship . It took place from August 17th to 25th in the Belgian boom together with the European Women's Championship. The venue was the Braxgata Hockey Club . European champions became defending champions Germany , who defeated hosts Belgium 3-1 in the final; Third place went to the Netherlands, ahead of England.

Attendees

The first six of the last European Championship - Belgium, Germany, England, Spain, the Netherlands and Ireland - and the two finalists of the Nations Trophy 2011 , the Czech Republic and Poland, qualified as participants. The newcomers could not prevail and ended up in the last places.

The third and fourth of both groups formed a relegation group. The games of the third against the fourth were taken over from the preliminary group. The last two were relegated to the Nations Trophy.

Finals

The first three teams and the host had qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Since England, which represented Great Britain, was qualified as host, all teams in the final round had made the Olympic qualification.
