The 1974 men's European field hockey championship was the second edition of the men's European field hockey championship . It took place from May 2nd to May 12th in Madrid . The defending champions Germany had to admit defeat to hosts Spain 1-0 in the final.

18 teams took part, initially playing in two groups of four and two groups of five.
