The UK men's national hockey team represents the UK at the Olympic Games . She won the gold medal at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp and 1988 in Seoul , the silver medal at the 1948 Home Olympics in London and two bronze medals. At the Olympic Games in 2012 , also in London , Great Britain took 4th place.

In all other tournaments - including World Championships , European Championships and Commonwealth Games - the countries compete separately: England , Scotland and Wales . Ireland (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland) share a team.

history

In 1908 - the first and only until 1920 Olympic hockey tournament - four British teams competed: England won gold against Ireland in the final. Since no further placement games were played, Scotland and Wales each received a bronze medal. All four medals are attributed by the IOC Great Britain.

In 1920 the team was founded as "Great Britain and Ireland" and played the second Olympic tournament in Antwerp . However, the four associations remained and became independent members of the World Hockey Federation FIH . After the division, Ireland remained a common team for the entire island to this day.
