Holcombe Hockey Club
The Holcombe Hockey Club is a field hockey club from Rochester in the English county of Kent . The original Old Holcombeians club , named after the venue designated by Holcombe, was founded by graduates of the local Chatham Grammar School in the 1960s. The club was created in its current form in 1999 through the merger of the Old Holcombeians with the Templars, Rochester and Gillingham clubs. The club complex is located in Holcombe Park a good three kilometers south of central Rochester and includes two artificial turf courts and a clubhouse. Holcombe HC plays in red jerseys and black shorts. The association's president has been businessman David South, founder and director of the Faithdean construction company, which also sponsors Holcombe, since the 1970s. The club is one of the largest hockey clubs in the UK with ten men's teams, five women's teams and numerous other youth and senior teams. The 1st men and 1st women play in the highest national league, the England Hockey League .

In 2014, Holcombe made headlines when England captain Barry Middleton moved to the then second division club. After seven seasons in the 2nd division, Holcombe rose to the EHL Premier League for the first time in 2015. The team was able to achieve first place in the league straight away in the 2015/2016 season, but failed in the subsequent play-off semifinals at the eventual champions Wimbledon HC . At the 2016 Summer Olympics , Holcombe provided seven players for the British national hockey team . As the first in the preliminary round in 2016, Holcombe qualified for the Euro Hockey League 2016/17 . There the team could not qualify for the round of 16 after an 8: 1 against the Polish representative AZS AWF Posen and a 1: 2 against SV Kampong from the Netherlands in the preliminary round. In the national cup, the team was eliminated in the round of 16 at league rivals Beeston HC after a seven-meter shootout.

Until 2013, the team played in leagues of the regional East Women's League , then followed by promotion to the second-rate EHL Conference East . There, in 2013/14, the direct march through with promotion to the EHL Premier League succeeded . In the House of Lords, Holcombe established itself in the first two seasons and reached places 5 and 4. In 2015/16, the team advanced to the semi-finals of the national cup, where they lost 3-1 to eventual winner Clifton.
