Colli del Trasimeno

Italian wines from the province of Perugia in the Umbria region are marketed under the name Colli del Trasimeno DOC (or simply Trasimeno ) . They have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1972 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014. The growing areas are around Lake Trasimeno .

Cultivation

The cultivation and vinification of the wines are only permitted in the province of Perugia in parts of the following municipalities: Castiglione del Lago , Città della Pieve , Paciano , Piegaro , Panicale , Perugia , Corciano , Magione , Passignano sul Trasimeno and Tuoro sul Trasimeno .

Almost single origin wines

The following wines must contain at least 85% of the named grape variety . A maximum of 15% other analogous grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Umbria region may be added.

  • Colli del Trasimeno Grechetto
  • Colli del Trasimeno Merlot (also called "Riserva")

Blending wines

  • Colli del Trasimeno Bianco (also called Frizzante or Vin Santo ). Must consist of at least 40% Trebbiano grapes and at least 30% Grechetto , Chardonnay , Pinot bianco and / or Pinot Grigio - individually or together. A maximum of 30% other white grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Umbria region may be added.
  • Colli del Trasimeno Rosso (also called "Riserva", Frizzante or Novello ), Colli del Trasimeno Rosato . Must consist of at least 40% Sangiovese grapes and at least 30% Ciliegiolo , Gamay , Merlot and / or Cabernet Sauvignon - individually or together.   • Colli del Trasimeno Spumante Metodo Classico Bianco .
