Young wine

Young wine is wine from the last or at most penultimate production. Annex 1 point 11 of the EU wine market regulation defines it as follows:

"Young wine: the wine whose alcoholic fermentation has not yet ended and which has not yet been separated from its yeast."

Its liveliness is typical. In Austria this wine is usually called Heurigen (in Styria also Junker), in Spanish Vino joven , in Italian Novello , in French Nouveau or Primeur .

Typical varieties

A particularly well-known young wine, the arrival of which is celebrated throughout Europe every year, is the French Beaujolais nouveau .
