Chalk Circle was a Canadian rock band.

history

The band was formed in 1983 by Tad Winklarz, Chris Tait, Derrick Murphy and Brad Hopkins in Ontario . The band name comes from the Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht back. Her debut EP The Great Lake , whose single April Fool made it into the top 10 of the Canadian single charts and the TOP 100 of the 1986 annual charts, was released in 1986 on the Canadian independent label Duke Street Records. The second single from the EP, Me, Myself and I , reached the top 10 of the Canadian charts in 1986. Her first LP, Mending Wall , named after a poem by Robert Frost , received even greater attention in 1987 , for which she received a gold record after a few months. The two successful singles This Mourning and the T. Rex cover version 20th Century Boy , which also made it into the Canadian Top 10, emerged from this album .

After their last LP As the Crow Flies , the band broke up in 1990. Their popularity remained largely limited to Canada. In 2006 a greatest hits album was released. Even after the breakup, there were still some joint appearances in 2006 and 2011, without the band being able to get back together permanently.
