At the IV Olympic Games in London in 1908 , a competition in hockey (men) was held. It was held at White City Stadium from October 29th to 31st .

Four British teams, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales took part in the tournament, which in the end also took the four first places, as well as France and Germany. The foreign teams proved to have no chance. In the final, England clearly prevailed against Ireland. There was no match for 3rd place, so Scotland and Wales shared the bronze medal.

The day before the final there was an additional game between the losing teams from mainland Europe. Both France and Germany had lost in the preliminary round, so the additional game is often viewed as a game for fifth place. In the official IOC report it is referred to as a friendly game and evaluated in detail.
