Racing Club de France
Racing Club de France (also RC France or RCF ) is the name of the first European multi-sport club . The club, which is based in Paris and has more than 20,000 members, employs around 270 people who are supported by around 200 volunteers.
history
The sports club was founded on April 20, 1882 in the large station hall of Gare Saint-Lazare under the name Racing Club and in 1885 it was renamed Racing Club de France. A year later, the Paris city council gave the club, which already had 1,000 members, the concession for an open field in the Bois de Boulogne , the so-called Parc aux Biches , on which a 500 m long slope, a châlet with changing rooms and the Croix-Catelan The above-mentioned sports facilities were created, which today encompass more than 40 tennis courts, two swimming pools (including an Olympic pool), a basketball court, a soccer field, several volleyball courts and various fitness and training halls on 6 hectares.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Racing Club was a magnet for American athletes in Paris, mainly in the women's sports departments, several hundred US citizens were members of the club in 1908.

In badminton, the club won 66 national team titles from 1942 to 2001. The women's team won 29 titles, 23 the men's team and 14 the mixed team.

The hockey department founded in 1897 was able to achieve numerous French championship titles in both the men's and women's categories. The men's team achieved 3rd place in the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup in 1993, the best European cup placement of a French participant.
