Bloemendaal ( listen ? / I ) is a municipality in the Dutch province of Noord-Holland . The municipality has 23,402 inhabitants (as of January 31, 2019) and has a land area of ​​39.7 km². Audio file / audio sample

Bloemendaal is one of the economically richest municipalities in the country.

Districts

The municipality includes the villa villages Bloemendaal, Aerdenhout, Bloemendaal aan Zee, Overveen (with the seat of the municipal administration), Vogelenzang and Bennebroek .

In the dunes west of Overveen is the Bloemendaal Cemetery of Honor ( Eerebegraafplaats Bloemendaal ). 373 resistance fighters from the Second World War have found their final resting place here.

In Vogelenzang, the De Tiltenberg estate had been the seat of the international Catholic women's movement De Graal since 1930 , which had been founded in 1922 by the Jesuit father Jacobus (Jac.) Van Ginneken (1877–1945). Since 2007 the seminary of the diocese of Haarlem has been housed on the estate , named after its patron , St. Willibrord , mostly Het Willbrordhuis called.

  1. Due to the merger of the municipalities of Bennebroek and Bloemendaal on January 1, 2009, the municipal council elections took place in 2008.
