Touristic

The seaside resorts of Bergen aan Zee , Egmond aan Zee and Schoorl aan Zee are located in the municipality , all three with long sandy beaches. There is also a zone between Schoorl aan Zee and Bergen aan Zee where nudist tourism is allowed.

The dune landscape is very popular. A large area is forested. There are also some small lakes and some heather in the dunes.

Bergen has been an artists' village for a century. There are sculptures everywhere in town, some by well-known artists. The Kranenburgh Museum shows paintings from the Bergen School . Around the Meerwijk park there are beautiful villas built by the Amsterdam School from 1917.

Until 1955, the steam locomotive “Bello” ran in Bergen in the summer. Today "Bello" is in the "Stoomtrain Museum" in Hoorn . The village, criss-crossed by shady avenues, has a picturesque church ruin and some typical, old houses.

Bergen is visited by many day visitors to the surrounding seaside resorts during the season. At these times, the town center is very busy with private cars, which the streets, which seem to be made for stagecoaches, do not benefit at all. Bergen can also be comfortably reached from the surrounding area by bike and public bus transport.

In addition to the Connexxion buses, there are so-called Buurtebus lines between the municipalities or parts of the municipality Camperduin, Groet, Schoorl, Bergen aan Zee, Egmond aan Zee and Egmond a / d Hoef. De Buurtebus was founded in 2001 as a private association to replace bus routes that were no longer available. Operations started in May 2002 with 70 volunteers and two buses.

Schoorl is also a lovely village between dunes and polder landscape .

Bergen aan Zee has a lake aquarium .

The whole municipality offers many hotels, guest houses and campsites.
