The Euro Hockey League 2015/16 was the ninth season of the European Hockey Federation discharged Euro Hockey League , the most important European competition for club teams in hockey. The competition was played out in a total of three tournaments with group and knockout phases. In contrast to the previous two seasons, the knockout games were played again over Easter and Pentecost.

Attendees

A total of 24 teams from the 12 best-placed nations in the EHF 3-year ranking qualified for the EHL competition. All other nations starting at the European Cup sent their two participating teams to the Trophy and Challenge competitions. The nations on ranks 1-4 of the EHF 3-year ranking provide three clubs, those on positions 5-8 two and those from 9 to 12 one for the EHL field.

Two clubs qualified for each of the nine EHL draws: HC Dinamo Kazan from Russia and WKS Grunwald Posen from Poland. With the English representative Wimbledon HC from London, SG Amsicora ASD from Italy and HC Vienna from Austria, three clubs made their debuts at the EHL.

EuroHockey Club Trophy

The Euro Hockey Club Trophy took place from May 23rd to 26th, 2016 in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It formed the first substructure for the Euro Hockey League. In addition to the title, the clubs also played for points for their national association in the EHF 3-year evaluation, which determines the number of clubs in a nation for the European Cup competitions. Due to the EHF 3-year ranking, there were no promoters to the EHL after the 2014/15 season. Instead of the Trophy relegated Italy 2, the winner of Challenge Switzerland 1 took part in 2015/16. The descent of Wales 1 from the Trophy and the promotion of Wales 2 to the Trophy balanced each other out. The representative Azerbaijan 1 Atasport HC did not compete (was not allowed to compete?), So only seven clubs took part in the trophy in 2016.
