Club Egara
The club egara is a sports club from the Catalan city of Terrassa , about 30 km north of Barcelona . The club, which has around 2300 members and has been located in Pla del Bon Aire in northern Terrassa since 1961, has departments in the fields of hockey , tennis , padel , horse riding , bridge , gymnastics , golf and swimming . Club Egara was founded in 1935 as Club Deportivo Armonia Egara and emerged from the hockey department of the Armonia Football Club . The name Egara refers to the Roman city of Municipium Flavium Egara , from which Terrassa emerged.
The men's team of the hockey department has international significance, which in addition to fourteen Spanish championships in 1969 and 1970 also won the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup twice and made it to the finals of this competition twice. In the 2007/2008 debut season of the Euro Hockey League , Club Egara, playing in blue and white striped shirts and blue trousers, made it to the semi-finals, where it failed at the eventual winner Uhlenhorster HC . Also in the Euro League season 2008/2009 this opponent meant the last stop in the quarter-finals. The city of Terrassa played a major role in the development of hockey in Catalonia . Today, the town next to the Club Egara is still with two other clubs, namely Atlètic Terrassa and CD Terrassa , in the first Spanish league, the Division de Honor Masculina - A represented.
In 1997 the club received the highest Spanish award for sports clubs from the hands of King Juan Carlos I.
