The Club Sportowy Pomorzanin Toruń is a sports club from the Polish city ​​of Toruń founded in 1935 . The club now has departments for football , boxing and hockey . The club is located around one kilometer north of the old town on Szosa Chelmińska.

Soccer

The Pomorzanin footballers played in the Polish second division in the 1950s. In 1953 the U-19 won the Polish championship title. Today Pomorzanin plays in the 5th division.

The hockey department was established after World War II . The 1st team was at home in the 2nd league for a long time before the promotion to first class was achieved in the early 1970s. Since then, Pomorzanin has not been relegated. In the 1980s, the team came third three times, second once and, as the climax, in 1990 Polish field hockey champions, the only championship title on the field to date. In the 1990s Pomorzanin won another six bronze places on the field, but could not break the dominance of the two Poznan clubs WKS Grunwald and KS Pocztowiec . In indoor hockey there are four championship titles on the credit side between 1987 and 1991.

In 1990 the ice hockey division became independent again under the name Towimor Toruń, now trading as THK Toruń .

During the time at KS Pomorzanin, the team reached third place in the Polish championship in 1950, 1967 and 1969. The greatest success was the runner-up title in 1968. Five players took part in the Olympic Games: Tadeusz Tulidziński in Helsinki in 1952, Józef Stefaniak , Józef Wiśniewski and Andrzej Żurawski in Innsbruck in 1964 and Ludwik Czachowski in Sapporo in 1972.

The shot putter and javelin thrower Melania Sinoracka took part in the 1948 Olympic Games in London.
