The Società Ginnastica Amsicora is a sports club from the Italian city of Cagliari on Sardinia . With 23 national championships, the men's team from Amsicora is by far the most successful team in Italy. The second most successful club HC Genua won nine titles. The hockey department was founded in 1948. After just five years, the first of many national titles was won. After a dry spell of nine years, Amsicora was able to win the Italian championship again in 2013 with a three-point lead over the main rival of the past few years, HC Bra . In the 2014 season, Amsicora lost the championship final 1: 2 against Bra, and in 2015 they took revenge 1: 0 in the final against the same opponent. In the 2016 season, only one double round without play-offs was played, in which Amsicora was able to defend the title with six points ahead of SH Bonomi.

Amsicora's men played a total of 17 seasons in the European field hockey cup . Until the introduction of the Euro Hockey League 2007/08, the team took part in three first-class cup tournaments, although the starting place for Italy could not be kept for this level. On the other hand, five second places in trophy tournaments ensured Italy's starting places in cup competitions the following season. Amsicora has hosted European Cups twice, in 1995 at the Cup Winners Cup and at the Club Champions Trophy in 1997 , where the club reached the final but lost to the Irish representative Instonians just after a 7-meter shooting. In 2015, Amsicora qualified for the Euro Hockey League for the first time , but, like a year later, failed in the preliminary round. Cagliari is one of the main centers of Italian hockey. In 2015, three clubs from the city were represented in the first division, in addition to Amsicora, CUS Cagliari and Ferrini Cagliari.
