The Dutch national hockey team for men represents the Royal Netherlands Hockey Federation (KNHB) at international level, for example at the World Hockey Championship , the Champions Trophy or the Summer Olympics . The first international match took place in 1926 against Belgium in Antwerp , which the Netherlands won 2-1. A 4: 1 against Australia in May 2000 meant the 1000th match in international history. The team won the gold medal twice at the Olympic Games, three times the field hockey world championships, twice the field hockey European championships and eight times the Champions Trophy.
The Netherlands is currently number 2 in the world - and number 1 in the European ranking.
