The 8th European Women's Field Hockey Championship 2007 was held in Manchester from August 18th to 26th , where, after 2003 in Barcelona, the women's and men's European championships were held together for the second time.

Eight national teams competed against each other, first in two groups and then in placement games. A total of 20 international matches were played. The top three nations (Germany, the Netherlands and England) qualified directly for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

The defending champion was the team from the Netherlands , who won 2-1 in the final of the 7th European Championship in Dublin in 2005 against Germany and thus secured the title for the sixth time in seven draws. The German national team took part as the reigning Olympic champion and was able to win the European title for the first time.

venue

The Belle Vue Regional Hockey Center with its two artificial turf hockey fields was the venue for the hockey competitions at the Commonwealth Games back in 2002 . At the EM 2007 there are 4000 seats available. The facility is located around five kilometers southwest of Manchester city center and is right next to the Belle Vue Stadium, a dog racing track that has been in operation since 1927 .

qualification

The first six nations of the last European Championship 2005 in Dublin (Netherlands, Germany, England, Spain, Ireland and Ukraine), as well as the two best-placed countries of the Euro Nations Trophy 2005 in Rome (Azerbaijan and Italy) are eligible to participate.
