Fanny Rinne (born April 15, 1980 in Mannheim , married Fanny Cihlar ) is a former German hockey player . She took part in the Olympic Games four times with the German national team and was Olympic champion in 2004.

biography

Fanny Rinne started playing hockey at TSV Mannheim in 1986 . In 1996, 1998 and 1999 she was German youth champion in the hall. In the adult division she won the German runner-up in the hall with TSV in 2002 and 2004. On the field she played in the Bundesliga for TSV Mannheim until the summer of 2006 . At the beginning of the 2006/2007 season she switched to the then German champion Berliner HC , with whom she won bronze at the national championship cup. After the season she went to the Dutch Hoofdklasse Club Haagsche Delftsche Mixed . In 2009 Rinne returned to Mannheim and has since played there again for her home club, whose hockey department had set up its own business in 2006 under the name TSV Mannheim Hockey. In 2010 the Mannheim team won the German indoor championship for the first time in club history.

The playmaker of the German women's national hockey team had 341 appearances for Germany. Her greatest success was the surprising win of the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . In the run-up to the games, revealing pictures of her appeared in Playboy , and volleyball player Kathy Radzuweit and fencer Britta Heidemann undressed for the same photo series . In 2006 the German team won the Champions Trophy . In field hockey European Championships she won the title in 2007, to silver medals in 1999, 2005, 2009 and 2011 and bronze in 2003. Rinne also took part in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London in part and was once each European Indoor Champion ( 2002) and twice indoor world champion (2003, 2011). Since May 2009 Fanny Rinne was the captain of the German women's national hockey team. After the 2012 Olympics, she announced her resignation.

In 1999 Rinne was named Hockey Player of the Year. She was nominated for world hockey five times. In 2005 she received the Silver Bay Leaf .

In 2015 she married Volker Cihlar. The two have a son and live in Wiesbaden.

In addition to her sporting activities in the club and the national team, she studied sports science at the University of Heidelberg and graduated in 2007 with a master's degree. She wrote her master's thesis on the subject of "Mental Training".

Today she works as a coach in hockey and works at Athletenwerk. She conveys recipes for team success from top-class sport into the business world.

Cihlar competed in the second season of the competition show Eternal Heroes , which aired from February 14 to April 4, 2017, and took third place.
