Natascha Keller (born July 3, 1977 in Berlin ) is a German hockey player .

Athletic career

After the sixth place at the 1996 Olympics and seventh place in Sydney 2000 she won the German hockey national women's 2004 in Athens Olympic gold. She won further medals with the team in 1995 when she was third in the European Championship and in 1998 as European Indoor Champion. At the 1998 World Cup she was third with the team. In 1999 the German team won silver at the European Championship, and Natascha Keller was declared World Hockey Player of the Year in 1999. In 2003 she became indoor world champion and European championship third.

Natascha Keller comes from the most famous German hockey family. Her father Carsten Keller ( 1972 in Munich ) and her brothers Andreas ( 1992 in Barcelona ) and Florian ( 2008 in Beijing ) became Olympic champions . Her grandfather Erwin Keller won Olympic silver in Berlin in 1936 against the Indians who were then considered unbeatable. Natascha Keller plays at the Berlin Hockey Club , with which she became German champion in 1994, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2005, 2006 and 2008. At European level, she and her club won the European Champion Clubs 'Cup in 1997 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2008. In the hall she was three times German champion with her club (1995, 1996 and 2000). With 425 international matches (389 on the field and 36 in the hall) she is the record national player of the German Hockey Association .

At the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , Natascha Keller was the flag bearer of the German delegation . For the first time a hockey player was given this honor. With the team she reached 7th place at the hockey tournament and then announced her resignation from the national team.
