Karl Neuner (born January 16, 1902 in Partenkirchen ; † March 20, 1949 there ) was a German Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Karl Neuner was German champion in 1924 and runner-up in Nordic combined in 1926 and 1927. In 1923, 1924, 1926 and 1927 he won the Bavarian combined championship. On the Oberammergau Andreas-Sattler-Schanze he set a hill record with a width of 38 meters in 1922. At the opening ceremony of the 1928 Winter Olympics , he led the German delegation, including his brother Martin Neuner , into the stadium as the flag bearer.

The Karl and Martin Neuner-Platz in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is named after the Neuner brothers and is located next to the Great Olympic Hill.
