Hans-Georg Reimann (born August 24, 1941 in Starrischken , East Prussia ) is a former German walker .

Career

Starting for the GDR , he won two Olympic medals in the 20 km distance : At the 1972 Games in Munich he was third in 1:27:17 h and at the 1976 Games in Montreal he was second in his personal best of 1: 25:14 h.

He had already won the silver medal at the European Championships in 1962 (1: 36: 14.2 h), but then remained without a medal at international highlights for almost ten years.

In 1972, the year of his first Olympic success, he set a world record (1: 25: 19.4 h) - in sync with Peter Frenkel . Four years later, in 1976, he was the standard bearer of the GDR team at the opening of the Olympic Games.

Hans-Georg Reimann is 1.80 m tall and weighed 65 kg during his active time. He started for SC Dynamo Berlin and trained with Max Weber . At first he was an engineer for measurement and control technology. After the end of his sports career, he worked as a walker trainer. After the reunification he became a pharmacy representative and moved to Neufahrn near Freising .

In 1976 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver in the GDR .
