Mathilde "Hilde" Gerg (born October 19, 1975 in Lenggries , official family name after marriage: Graßl ) is a former German ski racer .

biography

Gerg won a total of six Olympic and World Cup medals in her career: Gold in slalom and bronze in combination at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , World Cup bronze in Super-G and Combination 1997 , World Cup bronze in Super-G 2001 and World Cup -Gold in the team competition 2005 . At the opening of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , she was the flag bearer of the German delegation, but could not win a medal in the downhill or Super-G.

For winning the gold and bronze medals at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, she received the Silver Laurel Leaf.

She already experienced her first Olympic Games in 1994 in Lillehammer , but when she was eliminated in the giant slalom - after finishing 2nd in the first run (starting number 28). In 1994 she was junior world champion, in the 1996/97 and 2001/02 seasons she took first place in the Super G World Cup. In the course of her career she was able to achieve 20 World Cup victories. On November 21, 2005, she announced her retirement from competitive sports after a serious injury. From 2006 to 2012 she worked as a co-commentator on ski broadcasts on ZDF .

Today Hilde Gerg lives in the community of Schönau am Königssee . Since marrying Wolfgang Graßl in June 2000, she has had his family name, but in the sports field she continues to appear under the name Gerg. With him she has a daughter (* 2007) and a son (* 2009). On April 12, 2010, her husband died of an aorta tear . In 2014 Gerg married again and became a mother for the third time in the summer of 2015.
