  • 1870 : The British passenger liner Cambria crashes into a storm off the Irish coast on the rugged rocky shores of the island of Inishtrahull and sinks. 179 people are killed in the accident.
  • 1990 : One of the worst traffic accidents in Germany occurs in the Münchberg depression of the BAB 9 near Münchberg . Sudden fog leads to a mass collision of 121 vehicles, killing 10 and injuring 122. The accident leads to the construction of a viaduct.
  • 1991 : An earthquake of 7.0 magnitude in India calls for about 2,000 deaths.
  • 2001 : The sinking of an Indonesian fishing boat south of Java , which is filled overflowing with 397 people drowned 353 people in stormy seas, 44 have been saved. The passengers wanted to be granted asylum in Australia as Iraqi refugees .
