George McCrae

George Warren McCrae, Jr. (* 19 October 1944 in West Palm Beach , Florida ) is an American pop - and R & B - singer , the 1974 Rock Your Baby had an international number-one hit. He was one of the first disco musicians in the early 1970s .

biography

George McCrae is the son of a police officer and has eight brothers. He married Florida singer Gwen Mosley in the 1960s . With her he performed in southern bars from 1967. In 1969 they made their first joint recording, Three Hearts in a Tangle, in Miami. After that, the couple went their separate ways musically. In the years that followed, not only did McCrae's single Please Help Me Find My Baby go unnoticed, so he worked as a window cleaner, mechanic, machinist, manager of his wife and law student.

When McCrae wanted to end his musical career due to unsuccessfulness, he listened to an instrumental tape by the session musicians Harry Wayne Casey and Rick Finch. Rock Your Baby got lyrics and was a new chance for the singer. With this song he made his breakthrough in 1974 and at the same time had his greatest success ever (ten weeks number one in the German single charts ). In the following years he achieved a number of other great successes worldwide and received 14 gold and eight platinum records .

McCrae toured clubs and discos until the 1990s. On July 17th, 2009 the album Time for a Change was released in Germany. In early 2012 McCrae was a candidate on the SAT.1 television show The Winner Is ... , where he was eliminated in the 2nd round against Nevio Passaro . He now lives in Munstergeleen in the Netherlands and spends part of the year in Aruba .

McCrae's daughter Marcella Molignini was candidate in the talent show Popstars on Stage on ProSieben , she appeared in the December 6, 2007 as the final candidate, but did not make it into the band. Another attempt at pop stars - Just 4 Girls in 2008 failed.
