Gebhard Christian Bastineller

Gebhard Christian Bastineller (born May 15, 1689 in Halle (Saale) , † October 19, 1755 in Wittenberg ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Bastineller was born as the son of the Mayor of Halle and Pfänner Andreas Bastineller and his wife Barbara Dorothea, the daughter of the doctor and Saxony- Weißenfels Vice Chancellor and inspector of the grammar school in Weißenfels Adam Samuel Freystein, and attended the Halle grammar school . He then enrolled at the University of Halle in 1704 . In 1708 he went on a study trip through Germany and visited the universities in Vienna , Regensburg and Wetzlar .

When he returned, he concentrated on law and, after a few publications, became court master with some nobles and then notary in the diocese of Merseburg . In 1711 he received his doctorate in law under the chairmanship of Samuel Stryk in Halle and read at the university there. Thereupon he was appointed full professor at the law faculty of the University of Wittenberg in 1714 , whereupon he became assessor at the court court in Wittenberg. Here he rose through the graduation from the university, in 1722 he was advisor to the King of Poland , in 1726 he was appointed professor of the Codex , and in 1729 was a senior in the law faculty. He was rector of the University of Leucorea in the summer semesters 1727, 1737, 1745 and 1751 . On October 22nd he was buried in the Wittenberg Castle Church.

1720 Marries Christiani Louisa, daughter of Gottlieb Friedrich Nester, Polish bailiff in Stolberg. The marriage produced six offspring.

Bastineller owned the previous building of today's house at Burgermeistraße 16 in Wittenberg as a residential building, which was destroyed in the bombing in 1760.
