Career
society
Even as a child, Stoch showed his enthusiasm for football, in which he was almost always found with a ball. His father recognized his son's great talent and sent him to the football school of FC Nitra . Miňo , as his family calls him, was known for his excellent shooting quality even in his youth. In this area he was way ahead of his teammates at the time.
After a hat trick in a U-17 game, Stoch was appointed to the first team of FC Nitra. At the time he was just 15 years old. However, the rules of the Slovak league did not allow him to play as he was not yet 16 years old. Miroslav Stoch was only able to make his debut at the age of 16, but at this point many European talent scouts had noticed him.
In 2006 Stoch moved to England to Chelsea and attended the club's football school. In addition to the British, OGC Nice was interested in signing the young Slovak.
In the 2006/07 season, Miroslav Stoch played for the U-18s of Chelsea FC and scored eleven goals. He finished the season as the top scorer of his team. He got off to a good start in the 2007/08 season and gradually gained a regular place in the reserve team. Stoch himself said before the start of the 2008/09 season that his goal for the season was to make his debut for the first team at Chelsea. He achieved this goal on November 30, 2008, when he was substituted on against Arsenal in the 81st minute.
In the 2009/10 season , Stoch was loaned to the Dutch first division club FC Twente Enschede , reached the Dutch championship with the team and played a key role in winning the Eredivisie . For the 2010/11 season he moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul , where he signed a four-year contract.
In the 2013/14 season it was awarded to the Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki with a purchase option of five million euros . Fenerbahce then rejected an offer by PAOK of two million euros.
For the 2014/15 season, Stoch was awarded to the Al Ain Club and extended his contract with Fenerbahce until 2018.
In August 2015 he was awarded to Bursaspor within the Süper Lig . Then two years later he moved to Slavia Prague , where he won the championship once and the cup twice. He has been under contract with PAOK Saloniki again since 2019 .
National team
On February 10, 2009, Stoch made his debut for the Slovak national team against Ukraine in a friendly match , he was substituted on in the 70th minute. On June 6, 2009 in the qualifying game for the 2010 World Cup , he scored his first international goal for Slovakia in a 7-0 win against San Marino .
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Slovak squad. In the opening game against Wales he was substituted on shortly after the 1: 2 deficit in the final minutes, but could not change the result either. It was his only use in the tournament until the team was eliminated in the round of 16.
