history

Fenerbahçe Istanbul was officially founded in 1907 in Kadıköy ( Istanbul ) with the club name Fenerbahçe Futbol Kulübü ( German Fenerbahçe Football Club ), which was initially exclusively a football club. It was founded on the ground floor of a house at Beşbıyık Sokağı 3 (German: Beşbıyık Street 3) in the Moda district of Kadıköy. The official founders were Nurizade Ziya Songülen , Employee of the Ottoman Bank Ayetullah , Marine - students Necip Okaner , Asaf Bespinar and Enver Yetiker . They founded the association in secret because Sultan Abdülhamid II had forbidden the establishment of associations. After the first meeting of the founders, Nurizade Ziya Songülen was elected first president , while Ayetullah became general secretary and Necip Okaner became team captain and treasurer.
In 1908 there was an Ottoman law change , according to which clubs had to be registered. Fenerbahçe Futbol Kulübü was the first (Ottoman or) Turkish club to fulfill this obligation. The first soccer team was u. a. from Asaf, Ziya Hasan, Sami, Ayetullah, Mazhar, Necip Fethi, Galip, Huseyin, Hasan and Nevzat. The athletes of the first hour got into the Istanbul league in 1908/09 and won their first championship in 1912/13 without suffering a single defeat.
Fenerbahçe also played during the First World War . During the war, the team played against selection teams of the military occupiers of Istanbul (1918–1923) from England and France . They played 50 games in five years, with the exception of two games, they remained undefeated and achieved 41 wins.
emblem
- see also: emblem
The current emblem and club colors were changed in 1910 when Topuz Hikmet's badge was redesigned, changing the colors from white and yellow to yellow and navy blue. The Fenerbahçe emblem was designed by Topuz Hikmet , a football player of the period, and was made by Tevfik Haccar , a stone mason from London. The emblem consists of five colors: the white part in the shape of a ring, in which the words "Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü 1907" is written, represents purity and openness, the red stands for love and belonging to Turkey, the yellow symbolizes admiration and envy while Marine stands for nobility, the standing oak leaf symbolizes the strength and power of Fenerbahçe, and the green says that Fenerbahçe's success will be eternal.
president

Ali Koç , entrepreneur, member of the influential Koç family and acting club president since summer 2018.
He won the presidential elections in June 2018 with 16,092 (approx. 78%) to 4,644 votes (approx. 22%) against the former incumbent club president Aziz Yıldırım , thus ending the 20-year Aziz-Yıldırım presidential era and becoming the 37th president from Fenerbahçe.
Suspected manipulation in 2011 and the consequences
On July 3, 2011, an Istanbul court arrested senior executives and employees of the Turkish champions Fenerbahçe Istanbul on suspicion of match-fixing. These included the President Aziz Yıldırım , the Vice Presidents Mehmet Şekip Mosturoğlu and İlhan Yüksel Ekşioğlu, the CFO Tamer Yelkovan and the coordinator for amateur areas Cemil Turan . The club was accused of forming a criminal organization to manipulate football matches. The Turkish Football Association TFF initially stated that it would quickly make a decision on the basis of the evidence presented, but had to admit on August 15 that it was not yet able to make a decision after extensive investigations by an ethics committee. As sanctions, the club threatened the withdrawal of the championship title and / or forced relegation. To date, the association has not punished the club, and the championship title has not been revoked either.
The judiciary checked in particular various second round matches of Fenerbahçe from the championship season 2010/2011. According to the Turkish press, it was alleged that clubs had been bribed by Fenerbahçe to lose games in favor of Fenerbahçe and thus to have secured the 18th championship of the Istanbul team. Fenerbahçe denied the investigators' allegations. After alleged recordings of telephone conversations and interrogation protocols reached the press without permission, the Istanbul public prosecutor's office issued a ban on reporting on August 22 because the privacy of individuals had been violated.
On August 24, 2011, one day before the group draw for the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League , the Turkish Football Association took Fenerbahçe out of European competition at UEFA's request and replaced the club with runner-up Trabzonspor. A voluntary relegation from the Süper Lig contemplated by Fenerbahçe on August 26, 2011 was primarily rejected by the Turkish Football Association because there was no written request.
Because of the exclusion from the Champions League in the 2011/12 season and the resulting loss of income, top performers such as Diego Lugano to Paris Saint-Germain for around 2.93 million euros, André Santos to Arsenal for seven million euros and Mamadou Niang to Al-Sadd sold for 7.5 million euros. Because of his unlawful arrest and suspected manipulation, Emmanuel Emenike had already left the club on July 22, 2011 after only two months. Emenike turned down another engagement in Turkey and moved to Spartak Moscow for ten million euros .
On September 1, 2011, lawyers Emin Özkurt and Jean-Louis Dupont filed a lawsuit against the Turkish Football Association (TFF) and UEFA at the International Court of Sport (CAS) on behalf of Fenerbahçe . Fenerbahçe requested either compensation of € 45 million or a resumption of the UEFA Champions League 2011/12 by the court.
In June 2013 the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body imposed a ban on Fenerbahçe for all European competitions for the following three seasons because of the manipulation scandal.
Another story
In July 2019 it became known that the adjudicatory chamber of the UEFA Financial Control Authority had again punished the club for violating financial fair play . The club was fined two million euros. This sum is said to be withheld from Fenerbahce from the proceeds of UEFA club competitions. The penalty will be reduced by one million euros by UEFA if the club can demonstrate steps towards economic recovery by October 15, 2019. In addition, Fenerbahce will only sign new players for UEFA competitions to a limited extent in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, unless the transfer record is positive.
Achievements and titles
Fenerbahçe Istanbul became the first team in the league to win the first official professional championship in 1959. At that time, arch-rivals Galatasaray Istanbul were defeated in the final. To date, the club has won the most trophies in football in Turkey and with 19 national championships it is one of the most successful football teams in Turkey. In the all-time table of the Süper Lig Fenerbahçe occupies 1st place.
