Mevlüt Erdinç (born February 25, 1987 in Saint-Claude in the Jura department ; in France and often in German media: Mevlut Erding ) is a Turkish football player who also has French nationality . He has been under contract with Fenerbahçe Istanbul since August 2019 .

Career

In the club

FC Sochaux

Mevlüt Erdinç attended the youth academy of the French first division club FC Sochaux since 2000 and in 2006 he signed his first professional contract with them. After Mevlüt Erdinç made his debut in Corsica for the professional team in a competitive match and Ligue 1 against AC Ajaccio on November 19, 2005 at the age of 18 , when he was substituted on in the 86th minute and his team to a 1-0 victory in the final minutes lap.

In the first two years Mevlüt Erdinç came to sporadic missions in the top French league, but only in the 2007/08 season he was able to fight for a regular place in the storm of the Lionceaux . By winning the Cup in 2007, where Mevlüt Erdinç was not used, FC Sochaux qualified for the UEFA Cup . In the second leg on November 4, 2007 in the first round of the UEFA Cup against Panionios Athens , he made his European debut at the age of 20. In December 2008, the much-advertised Mevlüt Erdinç extended his contract prematurely for another year until the summer of 2013, this time including a release clause of eight million euros. In his last two seasons 2007/08 and 2008/09 for the eastern French , he scored double- digit goals, saving them twice from relegation to Ligue 2 .

Paris Saint-Germain

After FC Sochaux and Paris Saint-Germain finally reached an agreement on the transfer of Mevlüt Erdinç, he moved to PSG for the 2009/10 season for a transfer fee that was agreed in the contract from him in the release clause and he signed a four-year contract with the capital city . In his first season for his new club in March 2010, he managed a hat trick in a 4-1 victory in the league against his old club FC Sochaux of all places. Mevlüt Erdinç also played a key role in winning the 2010 French Cup by being used in all six cup games and scoring four goals. In the semifinals , they scored the 1-0 winner against US Quevilly , so they moved into the final of the Coupe de France .

In the following season 2010/11 Mevlüt Erdinç reached the eighth finals of the UEFA Europa League and again the French Cup final (2011) with Paris Saint-Germain , but this time they lost just 0-1 in the final minutes against the eventual double winners OSC Lille .

In the 2011/12 season , his contract was prematurely extended for another year in September 2011, but he was only used as a substitute for this season.

Rennes stadium

The much-advertised Mevlüt Erdinç no longer had a future at PSG under the new coach Carlo Ancelotti . That is why he moved on January 25, 2012 in the winter transfer period to league rivals Stade Rennes , who had been interested in him for a long time. The fee for him was 7.5 million euros and Mevlüt Erdinç signed a three and a half year contract with the Bretons .

AS Saint-Etienne

On September 3, 2013, Erdinç signed a contract with Les Stéphanois until summer 2017 . At AS Saint-Étienne, he is the successor to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has migrated to Borussia Dortmund . His new employer transferred a € 4.5 million transfer fee to league competitor Stade Rennes for the 26-year-old Turkish international. He marked his first goal for Saint-Étienne on November 24th in the away game against OGC Nice , which was ultimately won 1-0 by this goal.

Back to France via Hanover

For the 2015/16 season Erdinç himself moved to the German Bundesliga at Hannover 96 . There he made his debut in the first DFB Cup main round in the game against KSV Hessen Kassel .

Erdinç could not convince in Hanover, so he was loaned to EA Guingamp in early January 2016 until the end of the season .

For the 2016/17 season he was loaned to the Ligue 1 promoted FC Metz .

Change to Turkey

In July 2017 Erdinç switched to the reigning Turkish runner-up Istanbul Başakşehir FK . With this club he received a three-year contract. In the 2018/19 season, the striker was loaned out to league rivals Antalyaspor . Erdinç scored 14 goals in 27 competitive games for the red-whites .

In August 2019 he moved to league rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul and signed a two-year contract with them.

In the national team

French national team

At the age of 17, Mevlüt Erdinç made his debut with the French national youth team, and in 2005 he won the UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup with the team.

Turkish national team

Later he decided to run for the Turkish Association . On May 25, 2005 Mevlüt Erdinç made his debut for the U-19 juniors of Turkey against the Swiss U-19, where he also scored his first goal. Then Mevlüt Erdinç qualified with the team for the U-19 European Championship 2006 in Poland . This was followed in 2007 by some games for Turkey U-21 .

On March 21, 2008 he was appointed to the squad of the Turkish national team for the first time for a friendly match . Towards the end of March 2008 Mevlüt Erdinç made his international A debut against Belarus , which ended 2-2 in Minsk . He was also part of the Turkish national team at UEFA Euro 2008 in June 2008 . On October 11, 2008, Mevlüt Erdinç scored his first international goal in qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup against Bosnia-Herzegovina to a 2-1 win.

Erdinç was born to foreign workers of Turkish origin in Saint-Claude, France. His family emigrated to France in 1973 from the Turkish village of Erbek in the Sarıkaya district of the Central Anatolian province of Yozgat .
