Caner Erkin (born October 4, 1988 in Edremit ) is a Turkish football player who has been under contract with Fenerbahçe Istanbul since August 2020 .
Career
Caner Erkin is left-footed and therefore prefers to play on the left flank.
society
Caner Erkin began his professional career at Vestel Manisaspor . He scored five goals in 43 first and second division games for Manisa.
At the end of December 2006, the Russian top club CSKA Moscow announced that they had signed Caner Erkin for a transfer fee of 4 million euros. At CSKA Moscow, he celebrated his Champions League premiere at the age of 19 on November 27, 2007 against PSV Eindhoven ; Erkin came on for Ramón in the 61st minute . On August 31, 2009 it was officially announced that Galatasaray Istanbul is borrowing Caner Erkin for one year. After the loan, Galatasaray's purchase option was not drawn because Erkin did not want to stay. He really wanted to move to Fenerbahçe Istanbul for the new season . Fenerbahçe paid around 2 million euros for him, and Caner Erkin signed a four-year contract with the yellow-dark blues until May 31, 2014. He played 213 competitive games for Fenerbahçe in six years, scored 16 goals and provided 48 assists .
At the beginning of June 2016, Erkin moved to the Italian Serie A for Inter Milan on a free transfer . The decisive factor for the change was the fact that Inter-coach Roberto Mancini , who had previously worked for Galatasaray Istanbul and knew Erkin from that time, absolutely wanted to see him in his team. After Mancini was fired at the beginning of the season, Erkin did not receive the same backing from his successor Frank de Boer . Erkin moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul on loan in the same transfer period . After the loan he was signed for three years. He played 122 competitive games in four seasons for the black and whites , from league, cup and European cup games, and scored six goals.
After the end of his contract with Beşiktaş, Erkin returned to his former club Fenerbahçe Istanbul in August 2020 for the 2020/21 season.
National team
He played in the Turkish U17 national team and won the U17 European Championship in Italy in 2005 . At the U17 World Cup in Peru in 2005 , he reached the semi-finals with the team and was next to Nuri Şahin one of the most prominent players of this year, which subsequently secured him two appearances in the Turkish national team at this age .
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Turkish squad . In the first two games against Croatia and Spain he was in the starting line-up, after the 3-0 defeat against the defending champions he was not used in the last game. Despite a final victory, the team was eliminated after the group stage.
