Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü [ feˈnɛrbahˌtʃɛ ] (Turkish: Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü, German: Fenerbahçe Sport Klub) is a Turkish sports club from the Istanbul district of the same name . There are sections for football , basketball , boxing , athletics , table tennis , rowing , sailing , swimming and volleyball . The club colors are yellow and dark blue.

history

Fenerbahçe was founded in Kadıköy District in 1907 . It was founded at Beşbıyık Street 3 (Beşbıyık Sokağı 3) in Moda on the ground floor of a house. The founders were Nurizade Ziya Songülen , Ayetullah Bey and Necip Okaner . They founded the club in secret because Sultan Abdulhamit II had forbidden the game of football and the establishment of football clubs. After the first meeting of the founders, Nurizade Ziya Songülen is elected first president , while Ayetullah Bey becomes general secretary and Necip Okaner general captain .

In 1908 there was a change in the law according to which clubs had to register. Fenerbahçe SK was the first club to do this. The first soccer team was u. a. from Asaf Beşpınar, Ziya Hasan, Sami Kocamemi, Ayetullah Bey, Mazhar, Necip Fethi, Galip Kulaksızoğlu, Hüseyin, Hasan and Nevzat. The athletes from the very beginning entered the Istanbul league in 1909 and won their first championship in 1912/13 without a single defeat.

Fenerbahçe entertained the Turkish fans even in the middle of the war (1914–1921). They played against selection teams from the military occupiers of Istanbul from England and France . They played 68 games, won 60 games, won four draws and lost four games. Fenerbahçe played 17 times against the French selection and won all 17 games.

In the 2011/12 season, Fenerbahçe was accused of match fixing and excluded from European competition for two years. After several trials in the following years, the club was acquitted.

coat of arms

The first coat of arms of the association is the lighthouse (= Fener), which stands on Cape Fenerbahçe (Bahçe = garden). The first colors of the association are the colors of the daffodils , white and yellow, scattered around the Fenerbahçe peninsula.

Former coat of arms of Fenerbahçe

The coat of arms and colors were changed in 1910 when Topuz Hikmet's badge was redesigned and the colors were changed to yellow and navy. The Fenerbahçe emblem was designed by Topuz Hikmet , a football player of the period, and was made by Tevfik Haccar , a stone mason from London. The emblem consists of five colors: the white part in the shape of a ring, in which the words 'Fenerbahçe Spor Kulubu 1907' is written, represents purity and openness, the red stands for love and belonging to Turkey, the yellow symbolizes admiration and envy, while Marine stands for nobility, the standing oak leaf symbolizes the strength and power of Fenerbahçe, and the green says that Fenerbahçe's success will be eternal.

Anniversary logo for the 100th anniversary

“After changing the club colors from yellow and white to yellow and navy, it was a challenge to create a new emblem with the new colors. First, I brought the colors of the national flag, red and white, together. Then I drew a heart shape over the red area. I filled the heart shape with navy and yellow before placing an oak leaf over it. The outermost white ring served as a field for the club name and field. The other responsible persons were happy with the design and the new emblem was completed by Tevfik Haccar, who was in Germany at the time. The emblem has not changed graphically - even after Ataturk introduced the new alphabet - only the lettering has appeared in Latin letters since then . "
