The Millî Lig 1959 was the first season of the top Turkish league in men's football . It started on February 21, 1959 with the first match day and ended with the second leg of the championship final between Fenerbahçe Istanbul and Galatasaray Istanbul on June 14, 1959.

The league was then divided into two groups (red and white) with eight teams each. The teams in first place in the table in both groups qualified for the final. There was a return leg in the final.

The rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul and Galatasaray Istanbul met in the final. Galatasaray won the first leg 1-0 but lost 4-0 to Fenerbahçe in the second leg. This made Fenerbahçe Istanbul the first official Turkish football champion. No team was relegated back then.
