Yüksel Necdet Çoruh (* 1934 in Istanbul ; † July 3, 2012 ibid) was a Turkish football player and official. He is remembered for his long stint at Fenerbahçe Istanbul and is considered one of the most legendary players by fans and clubs alike. Due to his large body size for the time, which varies from 184 to 192 cm depending on the source, he was referred to as Deve Necdet (Eng. Necdet, the camel or camel Necdet ) in player times . A term for long people with a neutral connotation in Turkey.

Career

society

Çoruh began playing club football in the youth department of Kasımpaşa Istanbul , the sports club in his Istanbul neighborhood. For the 1952/53 season he was included in the professional team of Kasımpaşa Istanbul. At that time there was no international professional league in Turkey. Instead, regional leagues existed in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul , Ankara and Izmir , of which İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi (German: Istanbul Professional League ) was considered the most renowned. Kasımpaşa played as an Istanbul club in the latter. Çoruh instantly won a regular place in the professional team and completed 17 of the 18 possible league games in the Istanbul professional league in his first season. He was also noticed by those responsible for the Turkish U-18 national team. A little later, several missions for the Turkish U-18 team followed. After two more seasons played continuously for Kasımpaşa, Çoruh was one of the most sought-after young players of the transfer season. He was particularly noticeable for his performance in the league game of November 7, 1953 against Fenerbahçe Istanbul and was significantly involved in this game through his leadership in the 3-2 victory of his team. This performance prompted Fenerbahçes star Lefter Küçükandonyadis to stand up for Çoruh's commitment.

After about one and a half seasons, Çoruh, who had several offers, decided for the one from Fenerbahçe Istanbul and switched to the yellow-blue team in the summer of 1955 for a transfer fee of 3,500 Turkish lira . With this club, too, he immediately fought for a regular place and completed 12 of a possible 18 league games in his first season. After he had remained untitled with his club in the first season, he secured the Istanbul championship with this in the 1956/57 season. Although Çoruh was active as a defensive midfielder, he contributed four goals to this success. In the 1957/58 season , Çoruh kept his regular place, but he missed defending the title with his team. The following season his club finished the league as champions, whereby Çoruh belonged to that squad Fenerbahçes that won the last championship title of the Istanbul professional league. Çoruh completed only four league games this season.

From the spring of 1959, Çoruh and Fenerbahçe took part in the newly founded and nationwide Millî Lig (today's Süper Lig ). This league was founded in the spring of 1959 as the first nationwide national league in Turkey and replaced the regional leagues in the larger metropolitan areas, such as B. the İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi, as the highest and only Turkish league. The first season of the Millî Lig was played from February 1959 to June 1959 and ended with a win for Fenerbahçe Istanbul . Çoruh completed four of the possible 16 league games this season and became the first Turkish football champion with his team . In the season 1959/60 he increased his stakes to eight league stakes. His club failed to defend the championship title this season. Instead, the team won the Cemal Gürsel Cup . In the 1960/61 season , Çoruhs team succeeded again in the championship of the Millî Lig. Çoruh completed only two league games this season and was more of a reservist role.

After Çoruh had come to Fenerbahçe in recent years rather as a supplementary player to sporadic appearances, he moved back to Kasımpaşa Istanbul in the summer of 1961. In his first season he played 21 league games and scored one goal. In the second season, the 1962/63 season , he was at Kasımpaşa at the beginning of the season in the squad, but he did not come to any competitive game during the season.

In the summer of 1963 he moved to the Istanbul second division side Sarıyer GK and played here for one season.

National team

Çoruh was elected to the squad of the Turkish U-18 national team in 1953 on the occasion of the 1953 UEFA youth tournament. In this tournament, the Turkish U-18s achieved third place with a 3-2 win over the Spanish U-18 national team. Kaçmaz played four games during the tournament.

In November 1956, Çoruh was nominated by the national coach Cihat Arman as part of a test match against the Polish national team for the first time for the squad of the Turkish national team and made his international debut in this game. About ten days later, he played his second and last senior international match against the Czechoslovak national team .
